Terms of Use
These Terms govern your use of billcheck.com and the bill-review tool (the "Service"), operated by [YOUR BUSINESS NAME]. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Service is
BillCheck is a self-serve, informational tool that reviews an itemized medical bill you paste in and flags patterns that commonly indicate billing errors — duplicate charges, unbundled tests, and implausible quantities — and drafts a letter you can send to the billing department yourself.
The Service is not:
- Legal advice, medical advice, or professional billing advice.
- A licensed medical billing advocate — we do not request your medical records from any provider, and we do not negotiate with any hospital or insurer on your behalf.
- A guarantee that any flagged item is actually an error, or that contacting the billing department will result in any refund or correction.
For large, complex, or contested bills, consider a licensed medical billing advocate or attorney instead of, or in addition to, this tool.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase or use the Service.
3. Purchases and pricing
- The Service is sold in one-time packs (currently 1, 3, or 5 checks) — it is not a subscription, and you are not billed on a recurring basis.
- Purchased checks do not expire.
- Payment is processed by Stripe; by purchasing, you also agree to Stripe's terms for the payment itself.
4. Refunds
Because each check consumes real cost to generate (AI processing) at the moment it's used, refunds are handled as follows:
- Technical failure: if a check fails to produce a result due to an error on our end (and does not consume a credit — our system does not charge a credit for a failed request), no refund is needed since nothing was charged. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us with your order code and we will investigate and refund confirmed errors.
- Disagreement with results: we do not offer refunds solely because the tool did not find an error you expected, found an error you disagree with, or because a letter you sent did not result in a correction from the billing department — these are inherent limitations of an automated, informational tool, not service failures.
- Unused credits in a pack are not refundable for cash but do not expire, so you can use them on a future bill.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit content that is illegal, or that isn't your own bill or one you have the right to submit;
- Attempt to bypass payment, manipulate the AI system's instructions, or interfere with the Service's normal operation;
- Use automated means to scrape, bulk-query, or resell access to the Service;
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of this section.
6. Accuracy and limitations
Results are generated by an AI model based solely on the text you provide. The Service can miss real errors, and can flag items that turn out to have a valid explanation. Always independently verify anything before disputing it with a billing department, and treat urgency / confidence labels as guidance, not certainty.
7. Intellectual property
You retain ownership of the bill content you submit. We own the Service itself — the website, software, and design. The letter generated for you is yours to use for your own purposes.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY FLAGGED ITEM IS IN FACT AN ERROR.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms. Since accounts are not tied to a traditional login, this may take the form of blocking a specific wallet token or admin key.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [YOUR STATE], USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
